Coach/Consultant

DESCRIPTION:

Springboard Schools Coach/Consultants work in teams under the supervision of the Deputy Director to support client schools and district to create and implement a plan to increase student achievement and narrow the achievement gap and that reflects Springboard Schools’s model as well as research on best practices. The coaching team meets regularly with district administrators, principals and teacher leaders with the goal of building their capacity to improve teaching and learning.

Although one coach/consultant will be designated the “lead” coach in each district for purposes of managing the work, coach/consultants work as partners and as members of a regional team of coaches who meet regularly to reflect on their work and support each other.

Coaches are also members of a professional learning community in which they collaborate with their fellow coaches to build their knowledge and skills. Coaches contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the Springboard Schools district reform model by participating in meetings, developing and reviewing materials and furnishing Springboard Schools with information on the impact of the model within specific school districts..

These jobs are contract, not employee based. Springboard Schools has possible coaching assignments in the following regions:

  • Northern California: Below Sacramento and includes the Greater Bay Area
  • Central California
  • Southern California: Below Fresno and excluding Los Angeles County

Qualifications

Required experience and skills

  • Experience with school reform at the school or district level
  • Experience facilitating groups and/or coaching
  • Facility with data analysis and data collection strategies
  • Ability to identify and prioritize school needs to focus on areas of high leverage
  • Strong communication and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable experience:

  • Familiarity with Springboard Schools’s Cycle of Inquiry approach to continuous improvement
  • Advanced degree strongly preferred
  • Experience working as an external change agent

CONTRACT ASSIGNMENTS

These are contract (1099) positions. Depending upon the experience of the individual, Springboard Schools pays between $500 and $750 a day for a coaching assignment. Average amount of coaching days is expected to be between 40 and 50 days a year, for an annual contract total between $22,500 and $37,500.
