Position
The Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager reports to and works closely with the Director of Development to maintain current foundation and corporate donors and to identify, cultivate and solicit new funders. This will include maintenance of an active schedule of visits and solicitations to meet annual goals; taking the lead in submitting proposals and reports to prospective and current funders on time; and keeping donor information accurate and up-to-date in the organization's database. The Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager will be supported by the Senior Grant Writer and Development Associate. The position will require some travel within California.
Scope of Work
The Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager will:

Gain extensive knowledge and understanding of the organization and its programs in order to speak compellingly about the organization, its mission and programs with corporate and foundation prospects.

Identify, cultivate, build and solidify relationships with prospective donors.

Be expected to cold call prospects as necessary to open doors to the organization.

Directly solicit gifts from major prospects and maintain relationships through mail, phone and in-person contact.

Steward existing foundation and corporate relationships in accordance with a formal stewardship plan.

Identify opportunities for increased giving from existing funders.

Work with the Senior Grants Writer who is responsible for completing concept papers, proposals, and grant reports to prospective or current donors.

Complete writing assignments, such as letters, when necessary.

Work with the Development Associate to ensure accurate and timely entry of prospects and current donors in the organization's database.

Engage program and senior staff in the preparation and presentation of the organization in prospect relationships, stewardship activities and grants management.

Execute other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required experience and skills:
Bachelor's degree
Minimum 3+ years of fundraising experience with private foundations and corporations
Proven ability to cultivate and maintain donor relationships with a keen understanding of what motivates others
Ability to speak compellingly about our organization, mission, and funding goals to individuals and groups within the corporate and foundation sectors
Customer service approach to donor management
Attention to detail and ability to multi-task
Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
Ability to anticipate and solve problems
Excellent written and oral communication and strategic development skills
Ability to operate with purpose, urgency, and accuracy in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and deadline-driven environment
Ability to work efficiently as an individual, while working flexibly, cooperatively, and positively in a team environment
Ability to create opportunities and excel in an entrepreneurial environment
Desirable experience:
Knowledge of California foundation and corporate communities, especially those who invest in education
Knowledge of Salesforce.com and financial or accounting systems
